Since time immemorial there have been people who want to take other people's possessions. In the Middle Ages, people still relied on chests reinforced with metal bands, but in modern times, safes began their triumphal march. These solid metal cabinets, which are often firmly anchored to the wall and floor, make it much harder for thieves to get at their loot. The enormous weight of the safes prevents them from simply being taken away and the combination locks and thick armoring make cracking them on site a time-consuming and not exactly inconspicuous undertaking.
In addition to criminals, there are also innocent citizens who are interested in safes, for example in the locking mechanisms inside. With the wooden safe, you too have the opportunity to build a safe from scratch. The wooden safe kit is made of plywood, birch wood and rubber so that you don't get lumbago.
Before you can hold a fully functional safe including a combination lock in your hands, you first have to assemble it. You don't need any tools or glue for the assembly, the laser-cut parts are simply removed from the board. However, to ensure that the gears mesh smoothly, you should have a file or a small piece of sandpaper ready and a little bit of wax (e.g. from a tea light) to lubricate the mechanism.
Due to the complex combination lock, which requires precise work, the kit is aimed at advanced hobbyists. Assembly takes about 2 hours if done carefully.
